The Ministry of Agriculture asked for an additional 10-20 billion rubles for the industry in 2017, the Head of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, Alexander Tkachev, appealed to the members of the Federation Council and the State Duma with a request to find an additional 10-20 billion rubles to finance agriculture in Russia for 2017. The draft budget for 2017 includes 204.5 billion rubles for the development of the agro-industrial complex.

According to the budget for 2016, the costs of the state program for the development of the agro-industrial complex of Russia amount to 237 billion rubles. However, it was subsequently decided to reduce the financing of the program — the Russian authorities announced plans to allocate only 215 billion rubles for the development of the domestic agro-industrial complex this year.

"These funds are certainly not enough. I really hope that both the State Duma and the Federation Council will support us, and we will be allocated an additional 10 to 20 billion rubles," Tkachev said during the government hour in the Federation Council.
